sunday spark week 3

Yes, I am still going to do this despite the extreme lack of links ;)

You better believe I wore this look to school on Thursday! Unfortunately, these photos do not do it justice because they were taken after a long day at school, so the colors smudged/faded a little bit. Almost everyone in my class commented on it, and none of them could believe I didn't use MAC or Sephora. Nope, it was Coastal Scents and drugstore baby!
I didn't get to go to the Hunger Games midnight premier, but I went on Friday with my family and Saturday with my friends. Yep, I'm kinda obsessed ;)

Welcome to week three of Sunday Spark, where you can start of your week with a spark of inspiration! You can also leave inspiration for others, just enter your link in the linky tool below! It may be a photo of your makeup for the day, it may be a cool manicure you just did. Anything can be inspirational! The only rules are:

You must take the photos/write the post yourself
the post/photo must be something beauty related (this is a beauty blog after all!)
you must include this button in your post:

or link to this blog.

Every Sunday I'll pick my favorite bit of inspiration and feature it on this bloggity-blog. I don't expect to get too many entries the first few weeks, if any, but one is better than nothing ;) So link away, I'd love to see what beauty inspiration you guys have for everyone!

makeup tutorial: for gorgeous greens

This is the second tutorial in the eye color series, and I thought it was appropriate to do green eyes on St. Patrick's day :)
So, remember the chart I made for the blue eyes tutorial? Well, I made another one for green eyes:

These are the colors I think look best with green eyes, the ones that really make them pop. On with the tutorial!

Products used:
Revlon Creme Shadows in Not Just Nudes
Lancome Quad
Milani Baked Shadow
Jordana Eyeshadow Duo in Purple Smokes
Physicians Formula Gel Eyeliner
Wet n Wild eyeliner in dark brown
Wet n Wild color icon jumbo pencil in pixie
Covergirl all-in-one mascara

start with clean eyes.

step 1: prime your lids with any shadow base you have.

step 2: take a shimmery cream color...

and pat it on the lower half of your eyelid.

step 3: take a shimmery gold shadow and pat it onto the upper half of your lid up to your crease

step 4: sweep a medium-purple/lilac shade into your crease. (these photos do not do this color justice, it's gorgeous!)

step 5: with a dark plum-y/purple color, define your outer corner and the outer part of your crease.

step 6: line the outer part of your lid with purple. I used gel eyeliner, but you can use anything. Also, smudge a tiny bit into your lower lashline.

step 7: line your waterline with dark brown and highlight your inner corner with a shimmery champagne color.

step 8: curl your lashes and apply mascara.

Your done!

I hope this was helpful for all you green eyed girls out there! Next up, hazel :)

fyi: I just removed red nail polish, so that's why the edges of my nails look.... red ;)

p.s. don't forget to check out my makeup tutorial for blue eyes!

makeup tutorial: for baby blues

I hear people say all the time that certain shadow colors go best with certain eye colors. Blue for brown eyes, green for green eyes, purple for blue eyes, etc., but I have my own opinions.
Today I'm going to do the first tutorial in a little series of tutorials for certain eye colors. I figured I'd start with the lightest colored eyes (don't know why, but I did ;]) which are blue. Oh, and if you have grey eyes, that's totally and completely amazing and I'm extremely jealous of you, and this look will work for your eyes as well!
Here is a little chart I've put together to show what colors I think work well with blue eyes:

These colors work well with blue eyes because they are on the opposite side of the color wheel. Sometimes cool-colored shadows make blue eyes look washed out.
A quick not: do not be afraid of pink and red eyeshadow! People always say that it makes the eyes look irritated, but it really doesn't if applied correctly.
Anyway, on with the tutorial!

Products used:
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Too Cool
CoverGirl Eyeshadow single in Champagne
Rimmel Exaggerate Retractable eyeliner in Precious Gold
Wet n Wild pencil eyeliner in light brown (or copper, I forget ;])
Rimmel Lasting Finish blush in Pink Sorbet (I use this as eyeshadow)
e.l.f. eyelash curler
CiverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Black

step 1: apply a primer all over your lid

step 2: pat a shimmery cream-colored shadow all over your lid

step 3: take a deep red shadow and with a very light hand, dust it into your crease

step 4: define your outer corner with a coppery-chestnut shadow, then blend

step 5: take a gold pencil liner and line your waterline and upper lashline
here's what it looks like with blue eyes so far :)
step 6: with a light brown/copper pencil liner, make a very thin line close to your lashes

step 7: apply a light pink on the edge of the brown shadow. This will help to warm up the look even more

step 8: curl your lashes and apply mascara

step 9: with a white eyeliner pencil, highlight your inner corners

done!

I hope you blue-eyed girls found this helpful! Next up, green eyes :)

nail art

when I have nothing to do....
and when there are acrylic paints sitting on my desk...
and when there's a clear top coat of nail polish perched on my shelf...
 I do some nail art!
Have you guys ever painted a design on your nails with acrylic paint? Don't worry, it doesn't hurt your nails or anything, and it's much easier to do designs with than actual nail polish.
Show me your nail art, whether you did it with acrylics or nail polish! Maybe we can start a little linky every week, or a contest! Whaddya think?
