guess who got a haircut?

Hey guys! Sorry for leaving you in the dark for a few days, but since lent started my mom has been very anti-screens, so not much blogging action! But anyway, yesterday I got a haircut. I like it, but it's...... short. Not ridiculously short, but shorter than I'm used to. Here's the before picture:

goodbye luscious curly locks, hello.....

unattractive flash... blech

layers and bangs! This photo doesn't really show you my bangs very well, but they're there!
I usually get layers when I get a haircut, but I don't usually go this short. And I haven't seen it curly yet, because my hair-cutter person straitened it last night and I didn't need to wash it this morning (my hair is naturally very curly).

What do you think? What's your favorite way to get your haircut?

eye of the day 2/14/12

Hey guys! So, this is the eye look I wore on Valentine's Day. It's pretty simple, and I really liked the effect liquid liner made instead of pencil liner. I think it made it look a tad more sleek and put-together.

Products used:
wet n wild white eyeliner
CoverGirl eyeshadow single in Champagne
Coastal Scents 88 Original eyeshadow palette
Physicians Formula Retractable black eyeliner
wet n wild liquid eyeliner
CoverGirl Professional All-in-One Mascara

What did your makeup look like on Valentine's day?

swatches+mini review: Jordana Easyshine Glossy Lip Color

What is it with me and Jordana lip products? No idea. But I'm back with a few swatches of Jordana's Easyshine Glossy Lip Color.

I picked these up a while ago, but never really had much use for them because they're so bright!

I had absolutely no idea they would be this pigmented. I got home, tried on "raspberry", and my jaw dropped. Holy pink! I expected a nice tinted balm/gloss, instead I got a glossy lipstick sort of thing.

Let me talk to you about the smell of these: you can either love em or hate em. Okay, or you could be a little in-between like me ;) They kinda smell like a weird fruity.....thing. They definitely vary from stick to stick, but only slightly.

The texture of these are tough to work with. They can get slippery and greasy if you put too much on, but if you just want a little color then they actually feel pretty moisturizing.

Out of the three shades shown, my favorite is berry colada. It's probably the most wearable and it has minuscule gold shimmers in it, which is really pretty :)

Overall these aren't bad, but the smell+taste could definitely turn some people off.
What's your favorite gloss/lipstick?

high-end vs. drugstore: Lancome vs. CoverGirl

Hey peeps! I'm doing a "compare and contrast" post, where I will be comparing a high-end product to a drugstore product. I think this will become a sort-of regular kind of post, so..... yeah ;)

Today I'm doing Lancome's Le Crayon Khol pencil eyeliner vs. CoverGirl's Liquiline Blast eyeliner.

Prices:
Lancome–$25.50
CoverGirl–$8.79

Holy price difference! Personally, I would never pay for a $25 eyeliner, but this was given to me as a gift in a sample size, so it's all good ;)

Before smudge test:
As you can see in the photo above, the CoverGirl liner is way darker and more pigmented. It also went on way smoother. The Lancome one tugged on my skin and after these photos were taken I noticed some irritation around the swatch area :(

After smudge test:
The Lancome liner intensity reduced considerably after the smudge test, while I can hardly tell a difference in the CoverGirl one. Believe me, I don't want this post to turn into a "rip on Lancome" post, because I have a few different shadows that I adore from that brand, but come on. Seriously? Look at that, just look at it! And the price difference is amazing, too.

And the winner is....

By far CoverGirl Liquiline Blast eyeliner. It has better texture, better pigmentation, it's longer lasting, it really just has everything the le crayon khol pencil doesn't.
What's your favorite drugstore eyeliner? The CoverGirl one is up there, but I'm still staying with my Physicians Formula Retractable liner in black (I have the green eyes trio, but the black is my favorite from the trio and, well, in my whole collection!).

something uber-important just happened to me...

See that? That little silver splotch right there? That, my friends, is pan!!!
Why is this a big deal? Let me explain:
This is the first time I've ever hit pan on anything. I know, crazy right? I just don't use up things quickly, especially when I have so many different products for the same use. But it does make sense that I hit pan on a foundation first, considering I use it every day.
Also, I haven't even used foundation for very long. I never liked the thought of foundation because I always thought it would suffocate my skin. This stuff doesn't though, so in case you're interested, it's the Physicians Formula Talc-Free Mineral Powder :)

What's your favorite foundation? I'd love some suggestions!

product review: jordana easyliner for lips

I will be completely honest with you: this is the only lip liner I own, so I don't have anything to compare it to. So if you have any suggestions for drugstore lip liners I'd love to hear them!

Anywho, on with the review:

Texture/Pigmentation:
The texture of this is kind of... waxy. I actually don't mind it too much, because when I put it on it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything. It's light and doesn't sink into the creases in my lips. I hate to say it, but that's all I really have to say about texture. I like it and that's pretty much it ;)
The pigmentation is really nice. You can build it up or wear it lightly for the "my lips but better" look. That's the other thing:
If you had to pick a lip liner color, I'd say go with this one. It'll work for pretty much any skin tone.
^^^I'm wearing the lip liner all over my lips in this photo^^^

Blendability/Staying Power:
I don't really blend lip products, so there isn't much to say about it in that department. But it does "blend" into your natural lip color nicely.
As for staying power, here's the scoop:
I have applied this every morning when I do my makeup for the past week and a half-two weeks, and I think it stays for a good 2 1/2-3 hours. Not really impressive, but it's so easy to apply that it doesn't bother me.

Overall Rating:
8.5/10 stars. If the texture was a little creamier and it lasted long it would definitely be a ten, but despite the few flaws I love it :)

I hope this was helpful and that you'll consider this product next time you need a lip liner! If you want me to review a certain product just comment and I'll do what I can!
